CLASSES

Here’s our current timetable:

Classes are included in your membership price. For non-members, classes are chargeable at £5 per session. Members take priority and class numbers may be limited. Classes can be booked 1 day in advance of the class taking place.

Details on classes:

CIRCUIT TRAINING: Ben takes you through his latest Circuit Training concoction… a mixture of various exercises and training elements. Held in our S&C Gym.

CONDITIONING: General conditioning training to become fitter and stronger. Less emphasis on conditioning for a specific-sport or endeavour, just becoming a better all-round athlete. Instructed by PT Ben.

PEDAL POWER: The best spin training you’ll ever do, when you have competitive cyclist Jess Palmer taking proceedings. An enjoyable and intense spin class!

BLACK SKULL CHALLENGE: PT’s Simon Williams and Si Spreag lead a challenge of various strength events, before pitting their teams head-to-head at the end of each session. A fun introduction to some strongman-style training with a little bit of friendly camaraderie to boot.

LADIES FITCAMP: Sarah leads a ladies fitcamp. Get fit and strong pushing sleds and punching BOB.

KETTLEBELLS: PT Jess leads a kettlebell class. A mixture of traditional exercises, explosive swinging movements, and mobility patterns.

S&C FOR BOXING: Put on initially for the Smelters Boxing Club, Strength Coach Joe leads a circuit training class of sports-specific exercises to benefit boxers, building on strengths and ironing out weaknesses. This class is open to all members and subsidised to £3 to non-members associated with the Smelters.

S&C FOR RUGBY: Ideal for anyone that plays rugby and wishes to improve their ability as an athlete. While having a rugby biased, sessions offer an enjoyable and challenging workout…who doesn’t like sprinting into a dummy and crashing on our safety mats. Class taken by Strength Coach Joe.

S&C FOR FOOTBALL: Take your football to the next level by joining our Strength Coach Joe for this workout that will help to challenge and improve your athletic ability…run faster, be stronger, keep going for longer.

OBSTACLE COURSE TRAINING: Make full-use of our playground @theGym by joining Ben, our resident OCR athlete, in a workout designed to help you clear obstacles at an event such as Tough Mudder. Should you wish to sign-up for an Obstacle Course Race, please speak with a member of the team .

PROPER HIIT: While HIIT may be the buzz word for any type of circuit training, have you ever tried proper HIIT? A 30 minute High Intensity Interval Training workout in our S&C Gym. It’s intense! Class led by Strength Coach Joe.

COMING SOON! X-TRAINING: While our S&C Gym lends itself to a XFit-style workout, X-Training is our own spin on the popular method of hybrid circuit training. While it’s still a race of sorts, greater emphasis is placed on the progressive structure of workouts and the technique used during each element. Cheat an exercise and the rep won’t count 😉

WEEKLY TECHNIQUE TRAINING: Each week one of our team will take you through technique training for a certain exercise or activity. The first few weeks will be taken by our Strength Coach, Joe, who specialises with traditional Olympic Weightlifting, with an emphasis on the crossover into other aspects of your training and sport.
